In the day and age of drug testing in sports and the attempt to make competition fair to everyone, even mushing (dog sledding) is not immune.

Mushers on races like the Iditarod not only battle the harsh Alaskan elements and below zero temperatures, they also battle fatigue and many many days of not sleeping on the trail. Think about it, could you perform for the better part of ten days to two weeks under extreme conditions? Many people are a bear to deal with if they don’t get their eight hours of beauty sleep a day. Mushers have found a little secret that seems to work well. It is 5-hour Energy drinks. I am sure you have heard of them and probably seen the commercials on TV. But let me tell you they work great! While I have not ran the “big” race yet, I do see how the little kick and the alertness that this supplement provide.

I picked up a box of 24 a Sam’s Club a while ago and use them ever-so-often but the price at the discount club sure beats the three buck-a-pop price at the local convenience store.
