Today’s Daily Post article seems simple. But it is oh-so-hard. It is: What are you looking forward to?
That is a tough one.
Many of us try to live day to day and some of us plan for our futures by putting everything on sticky notes, iPhone apps, wall calendars, and a day planner they call Franklin.
Others of us live so much in the past that they lose sight of not only the future but today as well.
While it is nice to find that perfect balance. The Yin and Yang of life if you will. It is most difficult when the future is uncertain. No, I am not talking natural catastrophes or monumental meltdowns but just the fact that nobody knows what tomorrow will bring.
I bring this up because late last week as I was scouring the timeline of my twitter feed one of my friends posted an article about who should take care of your social media life when you die [ Article: Cybersapce when you’re dead ].
It brought up and interesting discussion with several of my followers and many said that they either have not thought about it and some were down right freaked out.
A year or so ago one of my former students in my canine career course died unexpectedly. She was a young woman in her early thirties. She did have some health problems but none that were imminent or what we would call life-threatening.
The day she passed away I will admit I was curious and I looked up her profile on Facebook and what I saw floored me. Her last post was just the day before and she remarked that she was a Starbucks picking up a latte.
I saw a stat somewhere that 375,000 people die each year that are on Facebook. Sure many of those are not as active as I on the social media site but many do post daily updates. I am sure that many of those 375 K people knew that it was their time. But many do not and they go about their day posting, tweeting, foursqauring, blogging and the incessant rambling that the world has become accustomed to.
I don’t have a good answer here and I am hoping that my rabid readers, friends and fans will keep this discussion alive.
I do know that I do my best to live life to the fullest each day and never forget my dreams because you just don’t know what tomorrow brings.
