Every year we have a tradition in the Forto house where we celebrate the greatest month of the year, October, with scare your socks off, hide under the covers, turn on all the lights, sleep with one eye open, fright fest, movie marathon every night of the month! We call it 31 Days of Horror.

31 Days of Horror: Day 5 Movie: The Serpent and the Rainbow (1998)

In for the second night we head to Haiti for our fright fest. This time is director Wes Craven’s 1998 voodoo flick. Craven, probably one of the greats in the horror genre has brought us great films such as Nightmare on Elm Street and Freddy Kruger as well as Scream and his own version of Dracula. Craven also directed Red Eye and the upcoming release, My Soul to Take. Craven is one of my faves.

Plot: An anthropologist goes to Haiti after hearing rumors about a drug used by black magic practitioners to turn people in zombies.
